Merry Christmas Curlies!

Merry Christmas Curlies!  I had a blessed day with family.  This is a day that is filled with giving thanks, cooking, watching my children open gifts, enjoying the love and company of my husband, and connecting with family and friends.  I spent a lot of time cooking today.
My hubbie wanted peach cobbler and a turkey.  I also cooked dressing and some mac and cheese.  Although I don't eat meat, I must say that I splurged on the peach cobbler.  Let's just say that I considered it my fruit (LOL!).  I also made sure that my leaves were in the fridge (salad) and ready for some salad dressing, even though I didn't eat any today.  I will get back to my regular eating habits within the next 2 days (LOL).

I hennaed and washed my hair last night and wore it in plaits all day until we left to visit family.  My braidout was really tight and well defined so I decided to pull it up into an updo.  I actually left a bang and pulled the back portion up, just the same way that I wore my hair last week when flat ironed.

This style was easy to do and held it's own on this evening.  The great part about today was that I got to enjoy the simple things.  My daughter gave me a piece of paper that she decorated, my son gave me an ice scraper, and my other son gave me a necklace that he purchased at a store at his school.  My hubby and I marveled at how those gifts meant so much to us.  My daughter also gave my hubbie and sons sheets of decorated paper which my boys used as a book marker for books that they received for Christmas (Diary of a Wimpy Kid- My boys love this series).  I truly value the simple gifts, the one's that we can actually use.  It's not about the price, it's just the thought that counts.  I believe that we can give a smile, a kind word, or an extra hand when one needs it, it's not always about the expensive item or even an item at all.  I think it's truly the motive behind what's given that truly counts.   As God did for me, I believe that it's important to give the gift of love and one can truly show maturity when you can give and expect nothing in return.  I had a wonderful day!  I enjoyed being grateful, spending time with my family, and sharing a little love on today.  Have a Merry Christmas!!!!

P.S. I plan to post 2 feature stories of pics of the day and "Speak and Share" since I didn't post a person this week.  For those of you who are new readers, it's my spotlight of other naturals via photos and a peak into why they went natural or a look at their hair.  Again Merry Christmas!  and check back frequently.

  1. Hi! Glad you had a wonderful, blessed Christmas. Your braidout w/bangs was very pretty...so shiny and defined. When you henna, how long do you leave it on? Just curious.

Thanks and I wish you and your family a Happy Healthy New Year :o)

  2. Thanks Tam! This time I left my henna on for approximately 3-4 hours. I typically leave it on for 2 hours though. I was just cleaning up and doing housework and left it on longer than usual. I will posting a new video soon with all the details on " How I henna my hair". Happy upcoming New Year to you and your family as well!
