Here's a close-up of my hair this morning. I was about to say this evening but it's 12:00 am so it's technically Saturday morning. My hair has been holding up well for the week. I've been pulling my hair up at night to keep my waves in place. I've tweaked my regimen since my hair has gotten longer. I used to spray my braidouts with water in the morning, but now since my hair has gotten longer I handle it differently. I just add a little shea butter, olive oil, and coconut oil to the palms of my hands and then massage some onto my scalp and scrunch the rest along the length of my hair. It gives my hair a nice sheen, just the right amount of shine so that my hair doesn't look dry. Although I continue to mist my hair with water in the morning when wearing pulling my hair into a bun, I no longer feel the need to mist it when I'm wearing a braidout. Now for you newbies I do still mist when I'm braiding my hair at night but not when I'm wearing it out that morning. This new regimen is working great for me. My hair looks moisturized with a hint of shine. I can even see my henna glistening in the light thanks to shea butter and oils. Chicago's wind and cold demeanor is no match for my shea butter, coconut oil, and olive oil. ...And the winner is butters and oils!!!!!!
How do you style your hair the morning of a braidout? Do you feel the need to add moisture?
I find that when I add water to moisturize a braidout or twistout, the hair shrinks and gets poofy. It actually loses some of the definition. So I've gotten away from adding water to a braid/twistout in the morning. Usually on the first day my hair is still pretty moisturized from the products used when braiding. The evening is when I may add a moisturizer and seal with an oil or butter. By day two or three the hair is so puffy that I'm ready to start over anyway...
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly. Spraying with water definitely worked to refresh my wash-n-go's in the am but it creates poofiness on my braidouts now. Yep it's just oils and butters in the a.m. to refresh a braidout for me to. Thanks for your comment Tam!
