I'm Having Hair Trim Regrets

Comparing length after wearing hair in ponytail for a week.
I'm having hair trim regrets today but not for the obvious reasons.  It's been two months since I had my hair trimmed and I regret not allowing the stylist to trim more than I allowed.  The front of my hair is just markedly longer than the back of my hair.  She trimmed even more on the left back section of my hair because she said my ends really needed it.  While at the salon I insisted that she just clip the split ends rather than try to even it up because I wear my hair curly more than I wear it straight and it shouldn't matter anyway- right.  Wrong.  I'm getting frustrated with seeing the front so drastically different.  I believe my ends took at strain because I had read about other naturals going up to a year without trimming their ends.  This is a true testament that what works for one natural doesn't work for all naturals.  You can really tell from the side view below.

See what I'm saying.  The front hangs more and the back is noticeably shorter.  I also henna a section in the front more, and that also tends to be the same section that just doesn't curl back right whenever I have my hair flat ironed.  I'm approximately 98% sure that I'm going to get my hair evenly trimmed soon.  I know for a fact that I just can't take it much longer.  I'm glad that the stylist listened when I said don't even it up, now I can just blame myself for the way that it looks at this point.  From now on I will attempt to get a trim every 2-3 months, because my hair can't go without a good trim that long.  I've learned that it's best to do things only when you're truly comfortable with it.  I wasn't ready to let go of the longer front section of my hair during my last trim in December, but I'm ready now.  I'm 98% sure I will be scheduling a trim soon so that I will no longer have hair trim regrets.  I just hope I don't regret my decision to trim evenly (LOL)!

  1. The good thing is now you know that stylist is very responsive.

  2. Yes I truly know that and that's a good thing when a stylist is responsive. It means a lot.

  3. Yes, I have definitely had my fair share of disastrous cuts, including someone cutting bangs while I shouted no over and over. I am eager to see the length shots and hear how it all went. :)
