I've heard a lot of questions from a variety of different people since going natural. One question that I've heard a lot since my going natural is "Is that your hair?". I went to Sam's Club last week and saw a woman with beautiful curly hair. I instantly complemented her and told her that my hair was also naturally curly. I went on to ask her what she used to gain and maintain such nice definition. She told me that she used tresemme mousse to define her curls. Her boyfriend kept eyeing my hair and then said "Is that your hair?", I responded "yes", and he seemed surprised. It's not the first time that I've been asked that. When I wear my hair in a puff I've been asked "Where did you buy that?" and when I say "What?", they say "your ponytail, it looks great". I met another natural at an outing. She was wearing her hair in beautiful short twists. I complemented her on her hairstyle and told her that I was natural as well. She looked at my hair and said " That's your hair?" in a questioning tone. After I said "yes", she immediately took her fingers and ran it from roots to tips and said "your hair looks good". I know that she was checking to make sure that I wasn't lying (LOL). It makes me laugh on the inside when people ask me if my natural hair is real. It's not extremely long like some other naturals, however it's full and looks thick when in it's natural state (not flat ironed). Since I've stopped perming in October 2007 I regained the fullness that my hair was starting to lack after years of perming and permanent highlights. When people ask me "Is that your hair? I feel it's a complement, because to me it just means that my hair looks too healthy to be real. The truth is when natural hair is pampered it looks healthy. And to answer the question for the umpteenth time "Yes it is my
hair"!
Just speaking
I know what you mean about the questions. Although, I don't get "is that your hair?". I get the "can I touch it?" question. It's typically people at my job who are not my same ethnicity. It's like curiosity is killing them (LOL). Anyhow, your hair is so very pretty! Can't wait 'til my hair grows longer. My goal is APL.
