How to Henna Video Tutorial

Hi curlies,

I promised to show you how I apply henna to my hair a few months ago.  It took me a while to find some extra moments to edit this video but here it is.  As most of you know I use henna as a natural alternative to add color to my entire head on occasion.  I frequently use it to add color to a few gray strands that I have around the right side of my hairline.  Henna is  a flowering plant Lawsonia inermis, used since antiquity to dye skin, hair, fingernails, leather, and wool (wikepedia.org).  It's talked about frequently within the natural hair community for its conditioning properties as well as for its ability to add a slight reddish color to dark hair, which can be seen in sunlight, or a brighter red undertone to lighter hair.  There is some fear that it may cause a slight loss in curl pattern to some hair types, so it's a good idea to test it on a strand of hair before applying to one's entire head to get an idea of the overall result.  So anyway here is the step by step process on I apply henna all over.  I have a previous post discussing how to just apply henna to strands that are gray without committing the time and effort needed to henna my entire head.  I will be posting a follow-up video explaining how I rinse the henna, deep condition, and will also show you the results.

Enjoy!
