There's nothing like the familiar- long time friends and natural hair

I so enjoyed myself on Friday evening.  I went out to Uncle Julio's restaurant with a group of buddies from highschool.  Out of the group of us, four are natural.  Latosha's wearing her hair in a wash-n-go.  I'm wearing a 4 day old braidout that I had been pineappling at night.  Alma's wearing her natural curls in waves.  She recently did the BC (big chop) in January, and Darlene is wearing Sister Loc's.  I was so excited to see such beautiful natural hair.  I always say that we're the 30 something crowd and I declare each of us felt empowered wearing our hair naturally.  This photo also shows the versatility of natural hair.  I've known Latosha since kindergarten and the other ladies since high school.  Now we not only have past memories to discuss, we spend a great amount of time talking about our hair.  Man I remember when I had natural ponytails in grammar school and I remember my KG friends ponytails.  Now here we are in the present sporting our natural tresses.  I declare it's nothing like the familiar, whether getting together with long time friends or wearing our hair natural, it triggers a memory.  The memory of  feeling right at home-  Au natural!

P.S.  I haven't talked a lot about my meals lately, however I'm still sticking to my meat free diet.  I ordered veggie tamales and an order of rice.  La comida fue delicioso ( The food was delicious)!!!
