Back to my roots- The Results of Applying Indigo 2 Days after a Henna Treatment

Happy day curlies.  I have been applying a henna and amla mixture to the roots of my hair all winter.  I have gotten lazy and just completely ditched the addition of indigo to make my henna'd section of hair darker to blend with the rest of my hair.  I use henna to color my few pesky gray hairs on the right side.  When using natural products the process takes time, and I don't have a lot of it, at least not extra time.  I typically leave my henna on for a minimum of 2 hours and once rinsed, I apply indigo and leave it on for a minimum of 45 minutes.

If you look closely you can see the reddish tinged streaks on the right.  This was right after a henna to my new roots in that section.  I basically rinsed the henna, co-washed, and then diffused my curls before heading out to a birthday party on Saturday night.  Now here it is 2 days later and I decided to wash my hair with Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle shampoo and then apply some indigo. I wear my hair pulled back into buns more often when it's warm outside, so I needed to do something to blend the noticeable contrast.   The indigo is sitting on my hair as I type.  It's a green powder that when mixed with water can be applied after indigo to give the hair a darker color.  I'm sitting here hoping that my hair turns the right color (LOL!)  or I may be sporting a headband for a while.  Anyways I remember reading somewhere that it's safe to apply indigo 2 days later.  I'm just going to let this sit for 45 minutes and then rinse it out.  Here's what indigo looked like when applied to my hair:

I went and rinsed the indigo and I'm pleasantly surprised.  This is the result:

My roots are dark.  I do see a few reddish-brown pieces, but most of the section is dark brown/black in color.  Yay!  Now I know that when pressed for time I can do henna one day and then go and add indigo a few days later.  Sometimes it's just good to break things up into small projects rather than tackling one large one.  My roots are looking good!
