My Allergies And My Hairs Are Flaring Up With The Changes in Humidity

My allergies and my hair can definitely tell that the season changed.  My eyes are watering, I'm sneezing, I have a tickle in my throat, and doggit my hair is swelling.  I got my allergies under control last week with Claritin-D and some prescription allergy eye drops, however my hair is still flaring.  I did a co-wash and braided my hair overnight earlier in the week.  In the fall my hair is usually so defined, however in the Spring my hair just swells.  It's the change in moisture levels in the hair, yes it's due to the humidity.  Humidity refers to the amount of water vapor in the air.  As the hair absorbs the moisture it tends to expand and the humidity can cause hair to become frizzy, puffy, and unruly.  A key to reducing frizz on curly hair is to keep hair deep conditioned to keep hair moisturized.  Styling gels are another key in reducing frizz in curly hair.  Styling gels help to fight the affects of humidity on the hair by providing a protective barrier that keeps moisture from penetrating the strands.  Maybe that's why I co-washed (using conditioner to rinse hair) almost daily last Spring and Summer.  It added moisture back into my hair and then I left some conditioner in before applying some oil.  I could be wrong but hey this routine worked for me.  I also typically added gel once a week during co-wash sessions and my hair maintained shine and moisture.  I grappled with whether or not I was going to pin up my mass of hair on this morning.  After long thought I decided to just enjoy the flair of my big humidity affected hair.  After all, it was the natural thing to do.  That's my take on it.  What do you do with your hair when it's really humid outside?  Do you wear it out or put it in a protective style?  (See Below for the back view)
