Water Please... My Hair is Thirsty!

My hair needs water and it needs it bad.  I've been so busy over the past week that I didn't notice that I hadn't fully immersed my hair in water for an entire week.  Between work, class, kids, homework, laundry, my twins birthday last week, and attempts to clean the house I missed doing a co-wash and conditioning.   For the 1st time since going natural I unintentionally missed my weekly co-wash.  It didn't even hit me until Sunday evening.  My tendrils are just parched.  It's been really warm here in Chicago and I have a habit of co-washing in the morning and pulling my hair back when it's hot.  Water moisturizes my curls.  My natural hair loves water.  I just have been rushing in the mornings trying to get the kids to school and just haven't felt like doing those morning rinses.  So how did I solve this issue.  I sprayed my hair with my water, conditioner, and oil mixture, braided my hair into 8 braids and called it a night.  My hair should be somewhat revived in the morning.  I'm so tempted to get braids.  Braids were my staple summer style of the past, before going natural.  In the meantime, I'm going to make sure that I keep my hair hydrated.  I'm scheduling my tresses for a full water treatment ASAP.  My hair thrives and just looks good with water, conditioner, some oil, and 1 x a week a little gel.  I added some water tonight, so now my hair isn't as thirsty.......

Have you ever forgot to wash or co-wash?  or Have you had so much on your schedule that you couldn't get to your regular routine?  If so, did you find a hairstyle that didn't require as much maintenance to help you through those really busy times?  (Please Share).

  1. When I've found myself in the position running with a busy schedule and don't have the time to wash/co-wash my hair, I've moisturized it then twisted it at night. Then in the morning keep the twists in but pin them up and add a few hair clips/accessories. It looks pretty nice and it buys me a couple days.

  2. This is a good idea Tam. It's a good way to keep the ends moisturized as well. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I usually shampoo every other week, with a rinse or cowash in between as needed. But during the day, I'll spray my hair and my son's with a water/conditioner mix to keep it nice and juicy. If it's hot out, I'll add a few ice cubes to the bottle, so it acts as a coolant as well. It's Nirvana :D

  4. I love my water conditioner mixes, but I never thought about adding the ice to act as a coolant. I'm keeping that it mind so that when it gets warmer again here in the "Chi", I can add ice cubes to my mist if I don't co-wash. Thanks for sharing Candy.
