Fried Green Tomatoes and Green Hair

Hi all,

I wanted to share my latest delicacy.  I love fried green tomatoes!  I also love that my father gardens and gave me 15 green tomatoes to start my week off.  I typically season my green tomatoes with seasoning salt and some black pepper.  Then I typically place some meal in a ziploc bag and shake, shake, shake.  This time I didn't fix them that way though.  I was at the store and saw a bag of fish fry.  I thought this would be a great way to add flavor to my fried green tomatoes.  After all, I was definitely out of meal, since I don't fry foods often.  Can you believe that I seasoned my tomatoes with black pepper before adding the fish fry.  Let's just say that they were pleasantly seasoned and had an extra "twang" to them.  If you want to give fried green tomatoes a try, just season tomatoes with fish fry or use season salt, and some black pepper for more flavor (if desired) and sprinkle with meal.  Next, add olive oil to your skillet.  Heat skillet, then place seasoned tomatoes into skillet and brown on each side.  OMG!  These fried green tomatoes were amazing!

Since this is a natural hair blog that also talks about meat free foods, I feel compelled to mention natural hair as well.  My hair will be covered in a green paste in a few minutes.  I'm getting ready to henna the front section of my hair.  I've found a way to avoid a 2 step process of using henna and indigo and will be sharing it very soon.  Here's a pic of my henna before placing some conditioner on the ends of my hair and sleeping in my henna mix overnight.  Henna for me equals conditioning + a slight reddish hue in sunlight to my strands that are of a lighter color tone.  This is a picture that was taken a few months ago.  This is what I plan to do, however I'm feeling like I might just be going to bed early tonight.  Either way my hair will be wearing this green shade within the next few days, when rinsed it will leave a new tone, like I said stay tuned for my new 1 step henna combo.

Do you have a favorite battered vegetable?  What do you season it with?
