High bun on Natural Hair- Chicago Summer Styles

Greetings Curlies!  I've seen people rocking this style in Chicago.  Before heading out to my husbands family picnic today I decided to give the high bun a try.  I've been wearing my hair in a braidout over the past 3 days and my hair was stretched more than it was curly.  So I misted my hair with water, oil and conditioner mix.  Next I applied grape seed oil throughout my hair to give it some oil support (LOL)!  Then I applied shea moisture curling souffle to the front edges.  I brushed the edges with a denman brush.  Afterwards, I secured my hair near the top of my head using an elastic , which I wrapped around twice.  I then took the ends of my hair and folded them under and toward the back, and secured with bobby pins.  In order to make sure that the edges laid down and waved up a little, I folded a satin scarf into a long rectangle and placed it across my edges.  I tied the scarf in the back and removed it after 10 minutes.  Here's the front and side views.

I have to say, I loved this simple bun!  A little texture that was safe from Chicago's wind, although it was a perfect weather day today, sunny and cooler in the evening.  High buns are a great summer hairstyle for natural hair.  All I can say is "The buns have it"!
