I love the shape of mohawks on natural hair! This creation was done on my 7 year old for her birthday. I asked my niece to braid my daughter's hair into a mohawk. When I got ready to pick my daughter up, my niece hadn't gotten to the the front section, or finished the left back section. I must say that she took her time, because the pattern that she braided into my daughter's hair was beautiful. She also styled my daughter's hair by twisting the ends of each braid 1/2 down the length of each section. It was lovely, however I really wanted her to have a mohawk. It was late, so when I got home I braided the back section in a style similar to my nieces right section. I then braided the front of my daughter's hair into half circles going toward the back. Once done, I gathered her twists and started twisting them into one large twist in the middle. I used elastics to secure her large twist so that it wouldn't unravel. I thought it was a great mix of braids and twists. I also loved that her mohawk showed some of the length of her hair. Here's the view from the front and back of her style:
Have any of you combined braids with twists to create a mohawk style?
