Viewing The Solar Eclipse 2017

I just saw the solar eclipse!  Purely awesome!  It's cloudy here in Chicago, so we didn't get the best view, however "a view" is better than "no view".  Myself and several neighbors got to witness the moon passing by the sun.  One of my children came out to view it, but you won't see him in a pic because we know that teenagers hate to take pics with their mom. LOL! I wore my special solar eclipse viewing glasses, and it was cool seeing more of the sun covered per minute.

A complete solar eclipse is an occurrence where the moon passes between the sun and Earth and blocks the sun.  The longest period when the moon completely blocks the sun will be approximately 2 minutes +.  It was cloudy, however it didn't go super dark here in Chicago, as it did in some other areas.

It's amazing that the last solar eclipse was in 1979.  I was too little to remember that one, but I'm glad that I was able to view this one!  This was a great science lesson for the day.

BTW, it's muggy, cloudy, and humid in Chicago today.  I'm hoping that my curls stay frizz free, however a little frizz never hurt anybody.  I saw the solar eclipse!

Did you view the solar eclipse?

Did it get extremely dark for 2 minutes in your location?
