I frequently find myself saying "don't touch my stuff"! This phrase led me to labeling my natural hair products. One morning after getting out of the shower, I started the process of pulling my hair back into a curly bun. I looked on my dresser to grab my spray bottle and it was not there. To my surprise my gel, brush, and scarf were all missing. I instantly went to the bathroom to see if I had somehow left the items on the counter, possibly the night before, and they still weren't there. I instantly started to panic, because I don't have time to not look pulled together, especially on a work day. Next step, I yelled out each of my children's names. My 15 year old twin boys with lots of curly hair, and my 11 year old daughter with a head full of naturally curls all responded. It was easily confirmed that each of them had some of my hair products in their rooms. I purchase additional products so that everyone has gel, their own brush, scarves/ do rags, and styling products. The issue is, when they don't place there items back where they can find them, they come and get my products.
The solution: I labeled my hair products and tools and encouraged them to do the same. I painted the end of my denman brush with purple nail polish, and I wrote "mom" on my current products with a permanent black marker. My words to my 3 curly hair children include the following reminder "Don't touch my stuff"!
How do you keep other family members from moving your products? How do you distinguish your natural hair products among family members?
