I spotted lint balls in my daughter's hair- Ugh! I couldn't even think straight seeing it before heading out of the door. I tried to slide as much of it off of the ends as possible.
I took the kiddos swimming yesterday. Afterwards I loaded my daughter's hair with conditioner, then added a small amount of shampoo to my hands and distributed it to the roots and ends of her hair. I usually stick to my Trader Joe's sulfate free shampoo, however I had forgot to pack it. I rinsed her hair, conditioned again, then conditioned again and combed it through with a wide-tooth comb. I then applied coconut oil and kinky curly curling custard gel and conditioner, cool water rinsed and twisted her hair into 8 large twists. I took it down this morning and there were white lint balls everywhere. I keep trying to figure out what happened. I think it's possibly the fact that after twisting, I placed a scarf around her head, and then placed a white towel on her pillow to absorb any extra water. This morning the towel had came off and she was lying on the towel. Either it was lint from the towel, or I needed to have detangled her hair with a smaller comb to get all dirt that might have been stuck in her hair off of the middle and ends. She had worn a twistout for a few days, however I don't remember seeing lint in her hair before washing. This time I washed her hair in the tub without using the shampoo bucket ( or the sprayer attached to the sink) so maybe the water from the towel ( I frequently filled the towel with water and squeezed it out from root to ends) wasn't strong enough to thoroughly remove all residue from her hair strands. I decided to remedy this by parting her hair into sections, spraying it with water/ conditioner mix and combing through her hair with a smaller comb. After combing through, I rewet each section, applied olive oil and shea butter, brushed her hair with a denman brush and started retwisting her hair. I hope I got most of those little pieces of lint out. I don't like tacky, if I can help it, and especially not on my daughter. Here's hoping for a lint free day on tomorrow, or I know that I will be cowashing her hair again over the weekend, in fact I'm sure that I will!
