Stretching out hairstyles and preserving the curl is a regimen that many curlies live by. Pineappling natural hair is one of the main ways that I'm able to keep my hairstyle looking fresh. I've been pineappling my hair every evening since I did a mild protein treatment this weekend.
My daughter's hair is on day 8 since I did a co-wash and light protein treatment on her hair last week. She's been wearing twists, which are a great protective style and the best style ever for quick early morning styling. Her twists were starting to look a little fuzzy this weekend, however I've been determined to stretch her twists to two weeks. I've kept her twists in for 2 weeks many times in the past, but this time I didn't wash her matching satin pillow case when I changed her bedding, and her scarf just didn't stay on her head. So her hair didn't hold up as neatly as it typically does. I decided to just unravel her twists and let her wear her hair in a twistout ponytail on tomorrow. Tonight, I used my "tried and true" preservation style for both me and my daughter's hair, which is pineappling ( securing hair atop head to keep from scrunching the curls). Pineappling is one of my favorite ways to maintain a braidout or twistout for as long as I can without having to rebraid or retwist. At the end of the day, we're just two natural girls trying to maintain our curls.
P.S. Lesson Learned: Purchase a few extra satin pillowcases (LOL).
