I finally found a way to comfortably wear a hat in the winter without the fear of damaging my hair. There are two methods which are fairly easy to do.
1. Take a satin cap and place it on your head. Next place winter hat over the satin cap.
or
2. Gather a satin cap, hat, needle, and thread. Place the satin cap inside of the hat. Sew the satin cap to the edges of the hat by using a stitch grabbing a piece of the satin cap and a piece of the hat. The thread will not be visible on the outside of the hat.
*Watch the short video above for directions and visuals for both methods. It's so important to keep hair from losing moisture which often results after placing winter hats on our heads. It's also key to decrease or eliminate any chance of wool or heavy fabrics from rubbing against the hair. Reducing friction to hair results in less breakage. I want to increase every opportunity possible to keep my natural hair healthy and without breakage. The 2 methods above definitely work for me.
Winterize your hats to protect your natural hair!
