My natural hair has been holding a flat iron well. It's been flat ironed for 30 days, actually 4 weeks and 2 days to be exact. Wow! is all that I can say. Immediately after having my hair flat ironed, I put a little oil on the ends of my hair. Since that day I haven't added anything. My hair tends to make it's own oil when worn straight, and tends to get stringy over time, so I just let my hair make it's own oils. I've worked out at least 2 days a week over the past 4 weeks. I sweated lightly in my head, however it didn't puff up, in fact I'm just really seeing some puffiness over the past 3 days. Truthfully, I've been too busy with lifes daily responsibilities to find much extra time to worry about my hair. I've been maintaining my hair at night by wrapping it around my head and tying it up with an Evolve satin wrap cap. The products are shown below.
I believe this comb was from "Evolve" as well. I know that my wrap style won't last much longer as I'm sure I will be co-washing tomorrow. I see a few gray strands peeking out when my hair is parted on angles, as shown above. It was good while it lasted. During the past few weeks I felt as if I had braids in or some other style that didn't require a lot of maintenance over the past 30 days. It was fun while it lasted, now time for deep conditioning, some oil, and a naturally curly style. That's the plan for now!
Evolve products can be purchased at Walmart and Sally Beauty Supply Stores. You can also check out their product line at http://www.firstlinebrands.com .
Just curious, "What's the longest time that you've been able to maintain your naturally curly hair in a flat ironed state?
2 weeks tops. I wore two shower caps and my edges still revert. When I flat iron my hair again for my 2 year anniversary without a relaxer. I plan to keep it straight for a month. *crosses fingers* lol. Beautiful hair btw.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you got 2 weeks out of your style. Pre-congratulations on your upcoming 2 year anniversary au' natural! and my fingers are crossed for you, and hoping that you get a month out of your style the next time that you flat iron. Thanks for the complement Courtney :)
