I finally tried some new products, 2 weekends ago that is. Someone shared with me that they create their curls using "Cantu Shea Butter Leave- in conditioning repair cream" and "Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Boosting Mousse". I haven't used mousse in so long, however I wanted to give it a try on my natural hair. After conditioning my hair I finger combed the cantu shea butter through my hair. Next I grabbed the "Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Mousse" and sprayed it onto my hand. Then I proceeded to finger comb the mousse through my hair. I let my hair airdry for 20 minutes and then lightly diffused it to dry my hair that was still damp. Mousse felt different from the gel that I typically apply. The mousse was so lightweight and it also made my hair feel light rather than "heavy", which is how my hair generally feels with gel, oil, and shea butter. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not knocking my gel, oil, an shea butter, I'm just saying that my hair had a different feel when wet and dry. It felt airy, as if it had no product on it at all. I realized that there's more than one way to arrive at beautiful curls!
My curls were defined, less poofy than my typical wash and go with gel, and it seemed that my hair didn't shrink as much compared to when I use gel. Mousse is going to remain a permanent product to add to my collection of curl definers. I was able to rock my curls for 3 days, let's just say that my hair got bigger and bigger over the course of 3 days. I'll post the pics over the next few days, however here's a look at the back view and an additional style formed with my moussed curls on day 1.

I have never used mousse in my hair, but maybe should i consider it now.. :) Your hair looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNice, I was looking at that hair mouse and as wondering if it would look good on my transitioning hair. I think the next time I head to the store, I will pick up a bottle.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review!
You're welcome Sarah. Let me know how it works out for you.
DeleteI love that mousse, bought 2 bottles. It gives volume and defines my curls wonderfully. I use a spray moisturizer under it sometimes. It holds up great in the heat and humidity. It is worth the money, inexpensive too as I refuse to pay $15+ for any mousse or hair product, glad that I tried it.
ReplyDeleteIt truly does give nice curl defintion and it's inexpensive like you said!
