Prince Concert 2012 Chicago

Yesterday, Wednesday September 26, 2012, I had the opportunity of a lifetime.  I got to see Prince in concert at the United Center here in Chicago.  I started off as a volunteer for Urban Ponics, a company that grows fresh food hydroponically, year round  and without dirt or pesticides.  After giving many Prince fans the opportunity to win a chance to sit in the VIP section, my hubby and I headed into the concert.  I must say that I was super excited to see Prince in concert!  I'm a 70's baby, and I grew up listening to Prince's music as a youngster.  I remember being in love with him in the 5th grade.  LOL!  It seems weird when I talk to people who were born in the 80's or later and they have no concept of Prince.  I have two words for them "Purple Rain".

The concert was amazing as I got to hear Prince (scream) and Janelle Monae.  Prince sang songs including "1999", "Raspberry Bureau", "Little Red Corvette", Let's Go Crazy", and "Purple Rain".    This man rocks!!!  His songs bought back memories of me during childhood being completely enamored by the artist known as Prince.  I remember watching "Purple Rain" and then choosing Purple as one of my favorite colors.  One of my bathrooms is currently painted in purple stripes.  I digress, but back to the show.  The show consisted of a variety of familiar songs, some head banging guitar tunes, fancy heeled footwork, amazing ability to engage the audience, that sly head turning side ways smile, and those signature high pitch vocals and screams.  I can definitely say that I'm still a fan!  I ran into several people that I knew there, let's see there was 1 high school alumni there, 1 person from my church, 1 person from a Business program that I completed, and many natural haired sisters doing what they do, who also talked extensively about their missions and love for going green and rebuilding communities (after all rebuilding the dream was the theme for the volunteers on tonight).  I said this to say that there were people from all walks of life, cultures, and age ranges present.  Prince's fan base is clearly universal.  Yall know I fell out when I saw these beautiful heads of spirals and curls at the concert!

Prince didn't wear his hair in a signature afro .    It looked like a press and curl.  My hair was worn in a "wash and go" done earlier that morning.  The ladies pictured above were also wearing wash and go's.  Yep,  I can definitely say that the Prince concert was on point tonight! My favorite song is still "Purple Rain" and the natural hair rocked!

Did you enjoy the Prince concert?  What is your favorite Prince song?
