Greeting CurlyNikki at the Motions Sponsored Chicago Meetup

Barbaranaturallyspeaking & CurlyNikki

CurlyNikki finally came to Chicago!  On Saturday she hosted a meet-up sponsored by Motions at Japonais Restaurant and Lounge at 600 W. Chicago ave.  The event was great, as I found instant gratification in seeing a line of beautiful curly headed naturals, wearing individual styles that wrapped around the corner.  OMG!  The natural hair was gorgeous to say the least. I arrived at 2:10 and I was hoping that I would get a chance to grab some products and greet CurlyNikki before leaving.  Today my kiddos had guitar practice and other appointments, plus it was my parents birthday celebration today, and I had to pick up the cake and get back to my parents home by 3:00.  Wew!  Somehow I managed to pull it off.  Well, I was a little late.  At the event, I was greeted at the door by lovely curlies such as Sonya sporting a wash and go. I sported a wash and go as well with the back section of my hair secured with an elastic.

I was directed to the products table where I got a beautiful "Motions" bag filled with full sized goodies.

I received three products including a box of strawlers ( a set of various size curlers that you can secure with a bobby pin.  They remind me of rod rollers, however some are really long, as in just the right size to roll long hair.  Some are also short so it looks as if they covered the gamut of rollers to address all lengths of hair).  There was also an 8 oz. container of "Motions Naturally You Deep Conditioning Masque".  It's a deep conditioner with shea butter, coconut oil, avocado oil, and I also see dimethicone listed as one of the ingredients.  If you're not strictly "Curly Girl", this may be a product to give a try.  The other product within the bag was "Motions Naturally You Smoothing Conditioner" with ingredients similar to the deep conditioner.  The directions instructs users to apply to hair, leave on for 3-5 minutes and rinse.  I actually saw a friends twist out this weekend who shared that she uses this conditioner as a leave in on her twists, and her twists were really shiny and looked nicely moisturized.

Once I nabbed my products I headed downstairs to grab a drink and guess who I ran into, yep the infamous "CurlyNikki".  Her hair was as gorgeous as ever.  I'm so grateful to her because her blog was among the first set of blogs that I read when I started my natural journey.  I feel like she's inspired me so much along the way.  After greeting CurlyNikki, I began my treck back upstairs to mingle with some of the curlies for the 20 minutes that I had before my parents started calling to see where I was, since they were celebrating a birthday today.  So here are some of the curlies that I ran into.

I finished up the day at my parents celebrating my fathers 94th birthday and my mothers 76th birthday.  I had a action packed and blessed day to be able to celebrate with my parents.  Happy Birthday Mom and Dad!

Have you tried Motions Naturally You Line?  If you Made it to the Curly Nikki Event in the Chi did you get to sample the sushi?  I left to early.  I guess I'll be heading back to Japonais Restaurant to fully enjoy the sushi soon.
