The Side Puff- A Variation To The Typical Puff

Over the past 4 days, I've discovered the variation to the traditional puff or bun pulled to the back of the head.  Drum roll please, yep, it's the side bun.  Instead of brushing my hair to the back, I brush it to the right side.

Here's the step by step process on creating this look.  First I co-washed my hair in the shower.  Next I finger combed conditioner through my hair.  Afterwards I  finger combed some grape seed oil through my tresses and then applied shea moisture curling souffle (gel) throughout my hair.  I did a quick cool water rinse, used a microfiber towel to absorb excess water, and then pulled it to the side using my denman brush.  I secured my hair with an elastic.  I then applied shea butter and a little more gel around the edges and tied the edges down with a scarf.  This style can be dressed up with dressy earrings and nice slacks, and the right boot, and it creates a nice classy look.  I can recreate this puff for days just by spraying it in the morning with water and then smoothing the edges with shea butter and gel.  My puff gets bigger and puffier over 2 days without full water immersion, then I start over with a refreshing co-wash (conditioner wash).  I love using shea moisture curling souffle for this style because it gives a soft hold that doesn't cause excessive shrinkage for a great puff on day 1.

I'm loving the variation to the typical puff pulled to the back.

Do you ever do a variation to the traditional puff by placing it differently or by adding a decorative pin?  Have you worn a side puff?  If so what products do you use to create your side puff?

If you've never used grape seed oil check out my previous post on the benefits of grape seed oil including using it for wash and go's and twisted natural hair styles.
