Road Trip To Memphis Tennessee
This week is Spring Break Week in the City of Chicago! My husband and I always use this week to take off and spend time with our children. This year we decided to actually tour my mother's hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. I went there many times as a child, in fact twice a year, annually throughout my childhood. I was a child and my time consisted of eating and playing with my numerous cousins there. I just never really got to visit many of the local attractions. I'll share my favorite places that we visited within the next few days. We initially thought that we would have to cancel since my husband was sick and hospitalized for a week and released two days before we left. We decided that we would still enjoy our time off and make sure that relaxation there would be our top priority. I drove the entire way. I can't believe that I did it. I'm grateful to God for keeping me so alert and for my preparation of purchasing Starbucks Coffee! Here are a few quick tips that I always follow when traveling.
1. Pull up my trusted packing list for myself and my children from my phone so that we can pack without leaving any necessities.
2. Fill my automobile up with gas the day before.
3. Pick a simple hairstyle that will allow comfort. In my case 2 simple flat twists secured with bobbi pins in the back, and for my daughter 2 puffs. One of my sons has a really tall mohawk and my other son along with my husband sport their naturally curly cuts in a shorter fashion.
4. Add any additional music to my playlist so that when I feel tired when driving, danceable and upbeat music comes on. Upbeat music keeps me wide awake, because I make up whole routines in route. LOL! (e.g. Rihanna, Shakira, Beyonce, Prince, Pit Bull, and anything with Sean Paul).
5. Pack fruit, granola bars, bottled water, and a few Sprite in case of any tummy issues.
6. Start the morning drive with a Starbucks Vanilla Latte with Soy and then stop at Starbucks again in 3-4 hours and enjoy another one! Starbucks will wake you completely up!
7. Review all rules for setting cruise control and get ready to enjoy site seeing.
8. Stop at any Outlet Malls seen along the highway, which we definitely did!
9. Remember to sleep late, rest, spend time with family, have fun, repeat!
FYI: We love road trips because it's a fun time to talk, sing, dance, and connect with my family.
